Fans and media alike have praised Idrissa Gueye’s fantastic performances so far this season, with Everton manager Ronald Koeman at the forefront of it all in comments published by the Liverpool Echo.

The Dutchman made a gamble in partnering Gueye and Gareth Barry together, however it has paid off phenomenally well in the early stages of the campaign.

As reported by Liverpool Echo, Koeman had particularly great things to say about the midfielder following his performance against Middlesbrough.

“He was outstanding,” said Koeman. “He was perfect in every aspect of football.

“He played the ball left, right, always tried to play the ball forward. It’s a fantastic signing for the club and I hope we keep him for a long time.

“In my opinion, in that position in the team he will become maybe the best in the Premier League.”

It will be fascinating to see how far this partnership can take the Merseyside club, as they currently find themselves in 2nd following their sensational start to the season.

They are traditionally known as being slow off the mark in recent years, however new manager Koeman seems to have halted that momentum.

His transfer is starting to seem like a bargain for the Toffees, who bought him from Aston Villa for £7.1 million in the summer. He’ll be looking to keep up his fantastic run of form when Everton take on Bournemouth this weekend.
