Everton manager Ronald Koeman has refused to compare his side to last season’s champions Leicester following their hot start to the season.
It has been a phenomenal start to the league season for Everton, as the Toffees find themselves in second after the first five games. With such positivity surrounding the club, it is no surprise that some people have already started to compare them to champions Leicester. However, as reported by the Telegraph, Koeman would rather not hear the comparisons.
“You like high expectation from everybody because it means we are doing well,” he said.
“But everybody knows it’s only after five games and it is too early to predict anything. We know we have a strong team. We improved a lot and the team is working hard, and we know we can be really strong.

“The difference maybe from last season is the pressing statistics in front and that’s the way we like to chase.”
All of Everton’s star players seem to be flourishing early on in the campaign, with the likes of Idrissa Gueye, Gareth Barry and Romelu Lukaku leading from the front.
“Last year no one expected Leicester to win. It will not happen again,” said Koeman.
It was to be expected that if a team did well this year then Leicester’s unbelievable season would be brought into the conversation. In a sense, it is almost unfair to judge teams alongside the Foxes as it really was like nothing we have ever seen before.
The real test of Everton’s ability will come as we progress through the campaign. Whether or not they can maintain their form as well as their star players will be a key indication of their potential success.
