Crystal Palace midfielder Joe Ledley has urged the fringe players coming into the squad to impress when the Eagles take on Southampton.

Competitions like the League Cup always offer the potential for unfancied players to come into the starting line-up and impress the manager. As reported by Sky Sports, this is exactly what Crystal Palace midfielder Joe Ledley wants those players to do when his side take on Southampton in the competition tonight.
“It doesn’t matter who the gaffer puts out, you are going to represent Crystal Palace Football Club and you have to go and perform to the best possible standard that you can,” he said.
“Obviously it is going to be difficult though because Southampton are a good team with a good squad and we will need to go there and perform.”

Manager Alan Pardew has made it clear in the last few days that he intends to mix it up with plenty of changes for the game, which is not a surprise considering they face Sunderland in a crunch Premier League match at the weekend.
It seems as if Pardew has steadied the course following a poor start to the season, as the 4-1 victory over Stoke City at the weekend gave fans reason to believe that they can have a positive campaign.
Ledley will hope to be at the forefront of those plans, with the Welshman himself coming off a successful Euro 2016 campaign with his home nation.
