Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez has denied ever wanting to leave the club following his side’s 2-0 victory over Espanyol.

Following his arrival at the Bernabéu following his star-making performances at the 2014 World Cup, big things were expected of James Rodriguez. Unfortunately, some people believe he has not lived up to the high expectations that came with his multi-million pound transfer from Monaco.
As reported by ESPN, Rodriguez denied reports that he wanted to leave Real Madrid back in the summer.
“I always wanted to stay here and I’m going to fight to stay here always,” he said. “Zidane did not say anything to me [about leaving].”

“It’s not been a bad time,” James said. “I have the support of everyone, including the coach. It’s not about what people talk about outside. I have a good relationship with Zidane and the rest of my teammates and you can see that. We are a united team and we want to keep winning and setting records, as we did today.”
The 25-year-old experienced one of his few Madrid highlights at the weekend when he scored in the club’s 2-0 victory over Espanyol.
With a number of competitions to contend in this season, Zidane will be looking to the likes of Rodriguez to lead by example and help take his side to new heights.

With superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale around him he may sometimes get lost in the pack, but when he is on his game the attacking midfielder can be almost unplayable.
He will look to keep the momentum going when Real Madrid host Villarreal on Wednesday.
