John Terry’s future at Aston Villa remains uncertain.

John Terry has performed better than most could’ve imagined for Aston Villa in the Championship this season, and as result, their fans are incredibly eager to see the 37-year-old continue to play for the Midlands club from August onwards. However, there hasn’t been a definitive answer one way or another from anyone involved, and that mentality is cause for speculation.
Terry has always been someone who wanted to continue playing until he felt like he couldn’t compete at the highest level anymore, but as has been well documented, his ties with Chelsea have often made things quite complicated in regards to Villa potentially gaining promotion.

The next chapter of this story likely won’t be written until Villa either succeed or fail in their quest to return to the Premier League, but either way, the vague nature of John Terry’s situation may be the best thing for the club.
As reported by talkSPORT, Terry will be making an official decision regarding his future in the summer, which allows the club to focus on the task at hand – the playoffs. One way or another the whole thing will be settled in a few months time, and only Terry himself truly knows the circumstances behind whatever decision he chooses to make.
One of the reasons for the club’s resurgence in recent times has been their ability to focus on the performances they’re putting on as opposed to what’s going on off the pitch, with Jack Grealish’s growing maturity being a shining example of that.

With just a handful of games remaining it feels like Villa are playing with less pressure than they have been in a long time, probably because many are assuming Cardiff & Fulham are the favourites for promotion regardless of how close it is at the top of the table.
With that being said, things are almost certainly going to ramp up in the coming weeks, and putting a pin in the John Terry discussion is best for everyone.
