International call-ups signal bright future for Aston Villa

Aston Villa, for the first time in a long time, are a football club on the rise.

The future of Aston Villa Football Club is starting to look brighter and brighter with each passing day, with the latest piece of good news being that four of their youngsters have been called up for international duty.

Josh Onomah will be a part of the squad for the England U21 games against Ukraine and Romania, meanwhile, Callum O’Hare, Easah Suliman and Keinan Davis will all be in the squad for the U20s’ clashes against Portugal and Poland.

The games will take place towards the end of the month, although it is safe to say that many fans and media members alike are not all too thrilled about the prospect of another international break in the midst of such an important time of the season.

It made sense when the World Cup qualifiers had yet to be determined, but in this instance, all the friendlies are really doing is clogging up the beginning of the April schedule and risking potential injuries for many senior players.

With that being said, when it comes to the younger crop of talent throughout English football in particular, the international break serves as a fantastic opportunity.

It is no secret that the expectations are fairly low heading into the 2018 FIFA World Cup for the England national team, but underneath that, there has been a parade of success stories that have led many to believe the future of the game in this country could experience a boost.

While there is no guarantee that the recent youth World Cup victories will translate into senior success, it is always nice to hold out hope – especially when you have experienced as much misery as England fans have. Because of that, the fact that four Villa players are involved in the setup this month should come as exciting news for fans of the Midlands club.

Not only will they be able to prove to Steve Bruce that they warrant a chance in the first team line-up, but it also shows that a fresh crop of talent is coming through at a club which seems to have forgotten its roots in recent years.

They used to be heralded for the quantity of English talent they had in their ranks, but in recent years, they seem to have stepped away from that. Now, though, they are thriving in the Championship off the back of young, hungry and home-grown talent – and it seems as if they are only just getting started.
