Helder Costa hasn’t quite been on the same level as he was last season.

There are so many standout players that played a role in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ success over the last 12 months, but beyond this season, there’s one in particular that had quite the impact when the Fosun regime first began – and that’s Helder Costa.
The 24-year-old was the original ‘Ruben Neves’ of the team, with his performances last year being enough for Wolves to fork out £13 million in order to turn his loan deal into a permanent one. When compared to the rest of the league, he was doing some extraordinary things for a player at the Championship level, and it was already clear to see he was destined for much greater things.

This season, however, injuries combined with the rise of other stars in the first team have led to some overlooking his accomplishments. That’s not all too surprising given the depth they possess as the club, but in the last few weeks, Costa has been reminding the world why Wolves spent so much money on acquiring his services.
The Portuguese star’s finishing, turning on the ball and vision are three of the many attributes that make him such a hot commodity, but prior to him making any big switches in his career, another season at Molineux may be in order.
Costa hasn’t been able to showcase his full potential in the same manner as he did last season, and on a stage like the Premier League, he’ll have countless opportunities to mix it up with Europe’s elite.

Right now there probably isn’t enough substantial interest for him in regards to the move he deserves, and at his age, the next move he makes needs to be a smart one in order to further his development as a world-class talent.
The squad as a whole at Wolves is already good enough to survive in the Premier League, and with a few additions to go alongside the likes of Costa & Neves, they could thrive in a big way.
