It’s an exhilarating time to be a Wolves fan right now as promotion to the Premier League beckons. The status and financial rewards that go along with that are imminent for the club, and as such, the summer transfer window is going to be extremely interesting for the Molineux faithful.

Big names have already been linked to the Midlands club, and while some of them may seem a little unrealistic, that hasn’t stopped them before. As reported by Express & Star, however, it turns out that it’s not just the fans who have high expectations – because Wolves legend Steve Bull does too.

The former striker has tipped Wolves to go after Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy, in a move which would certainly turn some heads in the football world.

“I would sign, for £30 million, Jamie Vardy, you might get him for that. Natural goalscorer, pace in behind, holds the ball up as well, so I think he would do a job,” Bull told the Express & Star.

While this is hardly an awful idea, there needs to be some kind of perspective on how far the club has come. In the last few years, they’ve risen up the ranks at an astonishing pace, with a big reason for that being Nuno Espirito Santo’s ability to nurture these talented players in a Championship set-up.

If Jamie Vardy isn’t going to leave the King Power Stadium for Arsenal, then the odds are slim that he’d do so for Wolverhampton Wanderers. It’s understandable to see those kinds of figures being thrown around, but we’re heading into unchartered territory for this squad and there needs to be some kind of restraint shown.

That kind of transfer is one that’d drag out over the course of the entire window, and at the end of it, there would be no guarantee of a confirmed deal. It’s great to see the buzz in the air around Molineux, but there’s no denying that there’s a sense of over-optimism to go alongside that.

More importantly than all of that, however, they need to get themselves over the finish line and while it may seem impossible for them to fail, stranger things have happened.
