Derby County youngster Kasey Palmer has varying emotions after his goal against Leeds United last night.
As reported by the Derby Telegraph, Derby County midfielder Kasey Palmer has commented on his mixed feelings after scoring his first goal for the club in their 2-2 draw against Leeds United.
The 21-year-old struck late in the day at Pride Park to ensure the Rams salvaged a point from the game, in what was his first major contribution to the side since arriving on loan from Chelsea in January.
Palmer is one of the many youngsters sent out on loan by the Blues this season, having previously spent two years with Huddersfield Town. Palmer admitted that while the goal was a great moment for him personally, he felt like Derby had earned the right to take home all three points.
“I’m obviously delighted to score my first goal for the club but disappointed to come away with a draw considering how we played,” said Palmer.
“I think we played really well, especially in the first half. To come only away with a point is really disappointing considering how we performed and how many shots on goal they had. We dominated the whole game.”
Palmer’s attitude will be welcomed by Rams fans who will want to see even more fire from their side, as they head into a crucial stage of their promotion push.
Derby are comfortably positioned in the top six right now but there is a whole host of teams looking to make a late run for the playoffs, yet there is also a realistic chance Gary Rowett’s men sneaking their way into the automatic promotion places.
The inconsistency of Cardiff City, Aston Villa and Fulham could open the door for Derby in the coming weeks and, with games against Reading and the Cottagers to come, the Rams will be desperate to add to their win column.
