Wolves midfielder Dave Edwards has stated that he wants an important role under new manager Walter Zenga.

Wolves midfielder Dave Edwards has been at the club for more than eight years now, and during that time he has become a fan favourite with the Molineux faithful. His never say die attitude and dedication to the club have been highlighted as key reasons why he is such a treasured player, and as reported by Express & Star the man himself wants to maintain that status under Walter Zenga.
“I think it was a bit of a hangover from the summer with Wales – but more the emotional side of things,” he said. “I was desperate to come back, I felt confident and excited after the Euros – I felt like I’d improved as a player and I wanted to come and show that to the Wolves fans.
“But I do feel good and fresh now. I’m really determined now, firstly to earn myself a new contract – I’m desperate to stay – and to help the team push on.”

Edwards, affectionately nicknamed “Dangerous Dave” by some fans, was a part of the Wales squad who made it to the semi-finals of Euro 2016 in the summer. However now that he is back in domestic action, he wants to ensure that Wolves have a positive campaign.
“I do think this season can be something special but it’s all about momentum,” he said.
The club have an interesting stretch of games coming up with promotion rivals Brentford and Norwich City on the horizon, however their main focus will be tonight’s League Cup clash with Newcastle at St James’ Park.
Whether or not Edwards will feature is uncertain, but the Welshman will definitely be doing everything in his power to help his side to a successful first season under Walter Zenga.
