Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Murphy has commented on Moussa Sissoko’s alleged elbow during the game against Bournemouth.
There were not many talking points during Tottenham Hotspur’s dull 0-0 draw against Bournemouth at the weekend as Pochettino’s men missed the chance to make a real statement to the rest of the Premier League. One thing that did come to people’s attention, however, was the fact that midfielder Moussa Sissoko caught Bournemouth’s Harry Arter with an elbow in the second half. As reported by BBC Sport, ex-professional Danny Murphy has commented on the incident and what it could mean for Sissoko going forward.
Sissoko apologised following the elbow and Arter has stated that he believes it was an accident, however whether or not he supposedly meant it will not mean that much in the eyes of the FA who could choose to ban the 27-year-old for up to three games.
Murphy told BBC Sport: “Sissoko is going to get done for that whether he meant to or not.”
He added: “I don’t know what he was thinking. It looks awful.”
Murphy himself was no saint back in his playing days, but he does appear to be right on the money here as there have been a string of examples over the years where players have claimed they did not intend to do something but were reprimanded anyway.
Spurs will be hoping that the Frenchman will be ready for the trip to Anfield to face Liverpool in midweek in the next round of the EFL Cup.
