Leeds United striker Chris Wood has struggled to really find his place since arriving in England, but now Elland Road may be the perfect destination.

New Zealand international Chris Wood has been tipped for footballing stardom ever since he arrived at West Bromwich Albion as a 17-year-old back in 2009. Since then, Wood has been shipped out to seven different clubs on loan and made full transfers to two of them. Despite his natural goal-scoring ability, it has taken him a while to really settle into a system within one team.
Some of his most impressive loan spells came for the likes of Birmingham City and Millwall, where he could shine under the Championship spotlight as opposed to in West Brom’s Premier League set-up. His goals did not guarantee a prolonged stay though, and it was only when he went to Leicester City that he really found somewhere he thought he could call home for years to come.
Once again, though, that was not to be the case as he was sent to Ipswich Town in 2015 when Leicester were really starting to hit the big time. It seemed obvious that he was no longer a part of their plans, and so off he went in search of a new club – Leeds United.

It would be fair to say that Leeds have experienced some turbulent times over the last few years, however when Wood arrived he made an instant impact with 13 goals in his first season at Elland Road. Now, under new manager Garry Monk, the 24-year-old seems to be playing some of the best football of his career and most importantly has found a place where he belongs.
His five goals this season already show that he is set for a big campaign, with the latest of those strikes coming in a 1-0 victory over former club Ipswich.
He fits the system at Leeds and with him in this kind of form, who knows where the club could go and how long Wood could be there for?
