Mohamed Salah has been on fire for Liverpool throughout the season.

The meteoric rise of Mohamed Salah has been one of the stories of the year in the Premier League and, as it turns out, the Egyptian’s success may have been a surprise for some former players turned pundits.
As reported by The Sport Review, legendary striker Chris Sutton recently made some comments on BBC Radio 5 Live regarding Salah’s fantastic form over the course of this season.
“The impact he has made…” Sutton said. “There were question marks about him. How he has responded this season at Liverpool is incredible. No one saw this coming.”

He added: “It has to be Salah for player of the year. Just on volume of goals. It is unbelievable.”
The important phrase in question here is that ‘no one saw this coming’. While that may not necessarily be true for every single football fan around the globe, Sutton is likely speaking on behalf of pundits who decided to write the forward off before the season had even begun.

It makes sense for them to have done that, considering Liverpool’s track record when it comes to splashing the cash on high profile players only for them to not work out in the long term. Now, however, we are starting to see the formation of a strong system at Anfield, and that is not all down to Mo Salah.
A lot of factors have to fall into place in order to ensure success in your first season as a Premier League player, and Klopp has worked his starting XI to the point where they are putting in consistently strong performances. Alongside the likes of Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, we have seen Salah flourish in an environment which many thought he would fail in.
Moving forward, this should give Reds fans hope that they will be able to lure more high profile names to the club, and not just attacking players, with the risk of Virgil van Dijk’s price tag also paying off in recent months.
