Wolves defender Barry Douglas is ready to help show the world what his side are made of in the final 12 games of the campaign.
Wolves full-back Barry Douglas has insisted that his side need to continue to step up their game over the course of the next 12 games, as the league leaders attempt to secure their place in the Premier League next season.
The club’s recent run of form has seen them pick up just two points from their last three games, as the likes of Cardiff City and Aston Villa continue to close the gap. Despite that, it seems as if the players and management at Molineux are not following in the same footsteps as the fans by hitting the panic button, and that can only be a good thing.
“We’ve got 12 cup finals left but we can’t look that far ahead, we just need to look at our next game and take it one step at a time,” Douglas told the Express & Star.
“When we’re on a high it’s brilliant, but now is when we really find out about ourselves and it’s where the boys need to step up and show their character.”
As simple as those two sentences may seem, they are really nott. The process of getting back on your feet and rediscovering your best form is difficult at the best of times in football, but when you are in the Championship, that level of difficulty is multiplied by ten.
Thankfully for Wolves fans, we are dealing with a team we have not ever really dealt with before in terms of overall quality, and because of that, you can just about throw out the rule book on what to expect over the next few months.
When it comes to Barry Douglas specifically, his heart is certainly in the right place, and the evidence would suggest that he is one of the best men to lead his side forward on this promotion push.
Not only has he proven himself to be a passionate and committed member of the team, but as a left-back, he has managed to reach double digits in the assists charts this season. That is no small feat, and it is reassuring for supporters to know that they have got someone like Douglas in their back pocket when they find themselves in tricky situations.
