Burton manager Nigel Clough has revealed his feelings on Norwich City’s ability to chop and change their starting XI.
Burton Albion have made a steady start to life in the Championship under Nigel Clough and despite the fact they currently find themselves down in 18th, they have shown enough to encourage fans that survival is a real possibility. As reported by Eastern Daily Press, Clough has spoken about fellow Championship side Norwich City’s ability to mix up their team selections following his side’s loss at the hands of the league leaders.
“We are not in a position to be able to put out a completely different team during the week, rest 10 players, then put a new team out with some of the other lads not even on the bench,” said Clough.
“Norwich did that and it must be a lovely position to be in, to go up to Everton with a fresh team and get a result and then do the same here. Injuries are part of football, unfortunately.”
The Burton boss was referring to the changes that Neil made following the Canaries’ memorable League Cup triumph over Premier League side Everton. Alex Neil’s side find themselves top of the Championship table after nine games as they look to bounce back to the top flight at the first attempt.
Whatever the case, the Brewers’ rise up into the second tier of English football will be something that the club can be proud of regardless of where they end up come May. They will attempt to get their season back on track when hosting Queens Park Rangers at the Pirelli Stadium tonight.
