Brentford manager Dean Smith has had some interesting things to say about Wolves midfielder Joao Teixeira after his side’s 3-1 defeat at Molineux.

Dean Smith has a history with Wolverhampton Wanderers, having managed rivals Walsall to a victory at Molineux as well as being born in West Bromwich.

It would be fair to assume he is not the biggest fan of the old gold and black, and as reported by Express & Star he accused midfielder Joao Teixeira of being too theatrical during his side’s 3-1 loss against Wolves.

The issue stemmed from the fact that Wolves manager Walter Zenga felt Teixeira should have had a penalty when he went down inside the box, but Smith disagreed.

Theirs was a good call from the ref. We watched it back and he actually kicks the back of Maxime’s leg, who had got in front of him.

“He goes down a bit theatrical, as he did a number of times.

“Ours was a blatant one for me. The fourth official said he saw it hit the Wolves player, but he thought it was his head rather than his outstretched arm.”

It was always going to be a fiery game on some level as both sides were attempting to lay down an early season marker for a place in the top six, so defeat must have been a bitter pill to swallow for the Brentford boss.

Brentford will attempt to rebound quickly when hosting Reading tomorrow night, meanwhile Wolves are set to take on Wigan.
