Birmingham City finally have a new man at the helm in the form of Garry Monk.
Birmingham City supporters will be celebrating in the streets for the next few days, as Steve Cotterill has finally been replaced by Garry Monk.
The ex-Swansea, Middlesbrough and Leeds boss has been rumoured to be taking charge at St Andrew’s for a while now and, after months of unhappiness under Cotterill, Blues supporters can begin to look forward to pastures new.
The Birmingham City managerial position can be considered something of a poisoned chalice, which has been the case ever since the club bizarrely chose to sack Gary Rowett. With that being said, the expectations surrounding them right now are so low that Monk can just go about his own business with no worry of the fallout.
If things do not work out then people will assume it is due to the ‘toxic’ nature of the job and, if he manages to turn things around, Monk will be hailed as a hero in the Second City. Either way he is in for one hell of an introduction tomorrow night, with his first game in charge being against his former side Boro.
Following that will be a tough trip to Wales to face a side he is very familiar with, Cardiff City. Beyond that, though, the schedule looks a little bit more favourable with Hull, Ipswich, Bolton and Burton Albion to come in successive games.
But prior to that, it is time to take a look at the thoughts and opinions of the Birmingham faithful regarding the appointment of the 38-year-old.
