Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish remains confident in the face of adversity.

Aston Villa face an uphill battle to secure one of the two automatic promotion spots in the Championship but, according to star man Jack Grealish, all hope is not lost.
The Midlands side are coming off back-to-back defeats at the hands of Queens Park Rangers and Bolton Wanderers but, as reported by Birmingham Live, the young Englishman believes Cardiff City are more than capable of faltering down the stretch.

“What’s happened to us will probably happen elsewhere – those kinds of results,” he said. “Fulham dropped points when people weren’t expecting them to at the weekend. It’ll happen to Cardiff at some point. It’s happened to Wolves.
“All we can do is bounce back against Hull. We’ve got eight games to go and if we win six or seven of those we’ve still got a good chance of automatic promotion.”
While what Grealish is saying is not beyond the realms of possibility, he should probably still be careful with what he says. After all, the Bluebirds are in the driving seat with just a handful of games remaining and, if anything, these kind of comments will only serve to push them on in their quest to reach the top flight.

It is all well and good for Grealish to insist that all Villa need to do is win 90 per cent of their league games from now until the end of the season, but that is no small task, especially given that they have still got to play Neil Warnock’s men away from home. Villa need to be taking it one game at a time and, while it may sound cliched, they need to treat them all like individual cup finals.
Regardless of whether or not they force their way into second, finishing strong is going to be vitally important for Steve Bruce’s men heading into a potential play-off run, which is something they have very little experience in. For now, though, their focus will be a trip to Hull City following the conclusion of the international break.
