Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor has been a divisive figure for quite some time now.

After 13 years on the books at Villa Park, 31-year-old forward Gabriel Agbonlahor is set to leave Aston Villa at the end of the current season.

It is a move that has been coming for a few years, with many fans turning on the former local hero as both his form and attitude dropped substantially. He has still had moments of brilliance, with his appearances against Birmingham City always causing a lot of excitement, but the Villa faithful tend to agree that it is time to say goodbye.

As seen below, Agbonlahor addressed the fact he will be leaving with an Instagram message, which could mean that he is going to play some kind of role against Derby County at the weekend or perhaps against Millwall on the final day.

Given Villa’s current position, it would likely be dependant on whether or not they are still in the race for the second automatic promotion spot. With two games remaining Villa are currently four points off the pace, meaning there is still something to play for until either Cardiff City or Fulham secure their place in the Premier League next season.

If Villa were not still interested in fighting for that spot, they would likely want to rest players for the upcoming play-offs; which could open the door for Agbonlahor to come on as a nostalgic substitute of sorts.

Either way, it will be an emotional day for many on Saturday, with Villa fans having varying degrees of sympathy for him as seen below:
