Aston Villa are preparing to lend a helping hand to Lyngby Boldklub.

As covered by Birmingham Mail and initially reported by B.T., Aston Villa may be on the verge of assisting Danish club Lyngby Boldklub with their financial troubles.

Lyngby have been circling the drain for a while now, with rumours of an investment starting up a few weeks back. The Danish side are struggling both on the pitch and off it, with Villa’s Dr Tony Xia reportedly being interested in making some kind of financial offer to the club.

Another English team who were sniffing around was Brighton & Hove Albion, although they are apparently no longer interested in the prospect of investing.

This news may not come as much of a surprise to some fans, especially given just how adventurous their foreign owners have proved themselves to be in the past. Boldklub’s chairman Torden Jensen did indeed confirm that an offer had been received from an unnamed English club, and he had the following to say on the matter:

“The offer has not come to us, but it has come to the law firm Plesner. We have been dealing with the whole weekend, and we consider it to be very exciting and serious.”

When asked about Villa, Jensen replied: “I have no comments.”

Some Villans may be questioning why there is so much emphasis being put on this issue by the club, although for most, it seems like another step in the right direction.

When you consider the position Aston Villa were in just a few years ago, their transformation has been incredible. Not only are they now in a position where they can compete on the pitch, but they also have ambitious owners who will continue to help the club grow as they attempt to bounce back up into the Premier League.

The terms of the proposed financial offer have yet to be confirmed, although chief executive Keith Wyness’s description of Villa as a ‘mothership’ makes it sound as if Lyngby could wind up being a feeder club of sorts.

Right now, though, the focus will obviously be turning to Villa’s huge Second City derby match against bitter rivals Birmingham City this weekend.
