According to the form table, Aston Villa is the best thing going in English football right now.
As reported by Birmingham Mail, the current form table throughout England’s top four divisions has revealed that Aston Villa are in fact the hottest team in the country.
That kind of sentence would not have been one that Villans fans were expecting just a few short months ago, with their side being on the outside of the play-offs looking in. Now, however, Steve Bruce has managed to steer the ship in the right direction, with the club now being on the verge of entering the automatic promotion spots.
It has been a long and difficult journey to get to this point ,but the fans are finally being given a reason to get behind their team again, after years of uncertainty and inconsistent play.
Even Bruce himself has not got a 100 per cent approval rate, with Villa supporters feeling like the ex-Birmingham City boss won’t be able to help the club consolidate their position in the Premier League should they gain promotion.
But for now that is a hypothetical thought, and we should instead be focusing on the fact that Villa are the only side in England to have won their last five league games.
If you take away the FA Cup defeat to Peterborough, 2018 has been a picture perfect year for the Midlands side. They seem to be brimming with confidence after a few strong results, which included four clean sheets in five games.
Given the unpredictable nature of the Championship, it is important that fans do not get ahead of themselves, especially considering that Villa don’t have nearly as much experience in the field of gaining promotion in comparison to some of the other sides in the hunt.
Things will not be getting any easier, either, with the next nine days seeing Villa host Burton Albion before one of the biggest games of their season as they welcome bitter rivals Birmingham City to Villa Park.
