Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has said that the club need to be ruthless in their remaining Champions League group stage games.
Tottenham Hotspur have made a mixed start to their Champions League campaign this season as they currently find themselves second in their group. As they prepare for another tough trip to face Bayer Leverkusen, the players will know full well that a victory would really boost their qualification hopes. As reported by Evening Standard, Spurs midfielder Dele Alli has told the club’s official website that his side need to be ruthless and take their chances in the clash following a disappointing result at the weekend.
Alli saved his side’s blushes by scoring a late equaliser against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, and with such a crucial tie in Europe coming up the 20-year-old wants to see Spurs take more of their chances in front of goal.
“I can’t wait for the Champions League, get back out there, hopefully get some minutes and try and get the win,” he told the club’s official website.
“We have to pick ourselves up. The boys will be disappointed we didn’t get all three points [against West Brom].
“But there was a lot of positives. We played really well, maybe we didn’t put away the chances we had but we were creating chances, which is always a positive.
“Next game we have to make sure we put them away.”
The draw saw Tottenham drop down to third in the league table despite maintaining their unbeaten run.
The youngster has been a standout performer for Spurs once again this season, and with the club competing on so many levels he will have to be at his best throughout the campaign in order to try to bring silverware back to White Hart Lane.
