Norwich City manager Alex Neil has stated that the club can afford an off day or two given the start they have made to the Championship season.

As was predicted at the start of the campaign, Norwich City have got off to a flying start in the league and currently find themselves top of the table after nine games. They have only lost one game of those nine and when you look at the talent within their squad, it is hard to see them not getting promoted back to the Premier League. As reported by Eastern Daily Press, manager Alex Neil has even said the side can afford an off day or two.
“It is nice to be top but what we don’t want to do is leave ourselves with too much ground to make up like the last time we were in this division,” said Neil.
“At this moment, because we have accumulated the points it means we can afford to have an off day or two. Now I wouldn’t say that to the players, but it means we have them on the board and that is important because when you leave yourself with no margin for error that becomes a problem when the season winds down.”

Either way it is a great position for Canaries fans to be in, however they will always have the worry that if they gain promotion once again that they will simply slip straight back down to the Championship as they have done in the past.
Whether or not any of this comes to fruition will be interesting to see, but right now Neil will be getting his players focused for the trip to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United this weekend.
