A positive look at Crystal Palace’s next three games

Crystal Palace face an uphill battle in the next few weeks, but perhaps there is room for optimism after all.

Crystal Palace are in the definition of a tricky spot right now, as a multitude of injuries has left them with a wafer-thin squad heading into a crucial period of their Premier League campaign.

Manager Roy Hodgson has done a fantastic job in terms of boosting the fortunes of the Eagles following a poor start to the 2017/18 season, but their next run of fixtures would be enough to strike fear into the heart of any top-flight side.

Still, with a man like Hodgson at the helm, there is always a chance of a surprise result, which is exactly what they will be looking for over the next few weeks.

Tottenham (H) – Reverse Fixture: 0-1 loss

The first game on this run for Palace will be an all-London affair with Tottenham and, ironically, it will probably be the most difficult of the three. Spurs are on fire right now and it will require a big effort for Palace to take anything from the game, and their best hope probably comes from sitting deep before launching a counter attack.

The Selhurst Park faithful will be lively under the Monday Night Football lights, but keeping the score down to 1-0 or 2-0 would be a minor success.

Manchester United (H) – Reverse Fixture: 0-4 loss

United are in a state of inconsistency right now, and they are a shadow of the team that ran through the Eagles 4-0 earlier on in the season. If Hodgson’s men can go straight at them from the word go then they may have a chance at stealing an early goal and, if that happens, then anything is possible. A point against the Red Devils is well within the realms of possibility, even though few will believe they can pull it off.

Chelsea (A) – Reverse Fixture: 2-1 win

Much like Manchester United, the Blues are struggling to find the consistency necessary to launch a legitimate push for the top four. Palace were able to defeat them earlier on in the season, and hopefully for the Eaglws, by the time this game comes around, they will have a few more key names back from injury.

If Palace can avoid conceding early, the Stamford Bridge crowd will start to get on their team’s back, and from that point on, a shock victory could definitely be on the cards.
