Leeds United have come a long way over the course of the last five years as their turbulent recent history continues.
An argument could be made for Leeds United being England’s biggest sleeping giants. Their greatest successes may have come a few decades ago now but they are still one of the most historic clubs England has to offer, despite the fact they have not had the best of fortunes in recent times.
Back in September 2011, Leeds were enjoying their second season back in the Championship following a few years in the wilderness of League One. The campaign would end up going downhill extremely quickly with United having three managers over the course of the season, the team falling away from the play-offs and fans being frustrated with the board about the renovations being made to Elland Road.
All in all it was not a success, and that statement can be made for the majority of Leeds’ calendar years in the last decade or so. If we fast forward to the present day things are starting to gradually look up, with fans being cautiously optimistic about the club under the guidance of new manager Garry Monk.
The issues behind the scenes are still very much at the forefront of Leeds fans’ minds, and until they are resolved none of their supporters will truly be comfortable in being confident about the future of their team.
If they were given the option of going back to 2011 it makes sense that they would say no, but unfortunately the future is still uncertain until more consistent groundwork is laid.
