Southampton star Pierre-Emile Højbjerg has settled quickly into life in the Premier League.
During an interview with the club’s official website, Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg described the Saints’ travelling support in the San Siro two weeks ago as unlike anything he has ever experienced before in football.
The Danish international arrived at St Mary’s in the summer from Bayern Munich for a fee believed to be in the region of £12.8 million, and has gone on to make 14 appearances in all competitions for Claude Puel’s men.
The 21-year-old sat down for an interview with southamptonfc.com, and highlighted the importance of the Saints’ home fans during their crucial Europa League tie against Inter Milan on Thursday:

“We saw in San Siro – we had the feeling that we played at home, how they came, how they supported us and how they always stood behind us. I must say, I have been at some clubs and I think I have never experienced something like that, and to be that loud doesn’t happen a lot, and that shows love and passion for the club, and that shows real history.”

Despite their 1-0 loss in the San Siro, the Saints still sit second in Group K, and a win against the Italians on Thursday night will provide them with a fantastic opportunity of qualifying through to the knock-out stages of the competition.
Since Puel’s arrival in the summer, the South Coast outfit have pretty much picked up from where they left off last term, and look like a team well capable of once again challenging for a top-six spot in the Premier League, and a good run in European competition will only be a good thing in regards to helping them achieve that.
