In fact, that is the joint second worst defensive record in the whole of the top half of the table.
So far they are averaging 1.3 goals conceded per game and if they continue that over the remaining 28 games this season that would see them conceding 49 goals in total.

That is a big number, to say the least, and history shows they will have to improve it drastically if they are to end up with their name on the trophy.
Since the Premier League switched to a 20-team format for the 1995/96 season, no team has ever won the league after conceding such an amount.
The champions with the highest goals against tally were Manchester United in 1996/1997, with them conceding 44 goals that year.

That team had to score a league high of 76 goals to end up with the title in their hands that season.
Of course, like that United team, Liverpool can hope their ability to score goals can be their saving grace.
They are already the league’s joint-top goalscorers alongside Manchester City, with both having put 24 past their opponents so far.
However, as they learned under Brendan Rodgers in 2013/14, goals do not guarantee a title and Klopp’s side must look to improve their defensive record if they are to avoid missing out as they did that year.
