Watford manager Vladimir Ivic has praised Ismaila Sarr on Sky Sports News (19/10/20 at 4:35 pm) for how he has conducted himself following links with Liverpool and Aston Villa over the summer.
Ivic shared that Sarr’s ‘wish’ was to play in the Championship with Watford if he couldn’t get a move away from the club and how he has been ‘motivated’ to do his job for the Hornets.
Football France reported last month that Villa were convinced that they could persuade Sarr to join them over Liverpool, but as time has told, nothing materialised for the speedster.
Watford’s managerial merry-go-round now sees former attacking midfielder, Ivic takes the reigns at Vicarage Road and he spoke in glowing terms about Sarr.
“I have discussed a lot of times his ability and his wish to play in the Championship,” Ivic told Sky Sports. “He said he’s ‘motivated’ and wanted to be a part of us if he doesn’t move somewhere.
“He’s one of the players who gives his maximum effort to the practice. We are satisfied that he is with us. Now that the transfer window is closed, he is part of Watford and I am sure he will work hard.
“He will show his professional [side] and commitment.”

It’s pretty easy for a player to be distracted and wanting to leave when suitors, especially from leagues higher up, come knocking for your services.
But the likes of Liverpool and Villa should be pleased with what they are seeing from Sarr because, along with his talents, he is showing he has the mindset to succeed as well.
Now it’s a case of the lung-busting winger to show that he’s too good for the Championship by helping Watford earn promotion at the first time of asking, and if he does that, it will be interesting if those in the West Midlands or on Merseyside come knocking for his talents again.
