Everton loanee Cenk Tosun has made a superb start to life back at Besiktas, with coach Sergen Yalcin praising the January signing after a 3-0 Super Lig thrashing of Genclerbirligi, while speaking to CNN Turk.
Talk about picking up where you left off.
In his first appearance for Besiktas since 2018, Tosun wasted no time in reminding everybody why, during his first spell at the club, he was the most feared finisher in the Super Lig.
The £27 million striker came off the bench with half an hour remaining away at Genclerbirligi on Monday night and scored twice, a pair of confident, composed finishes belying the fact that he had barely kicked a ball for Everton during the first half of the season.
“Cenk is an important player. He came from the Premier League, his quality is clear,” said Yalcin, whose Besiktas side are level with Istanbul neighbours Galatasaray at the top of the table.

“Today was a good day for him. He crowned his return to his community with two goals. There is also an important European Championship at the end of the season. We will try to prepare Cenk for it as much as we can.”
Tosun fired Besiktas to a pair of Super Lig titles in 2016 and 2017, scoring 55 goals in his final two-and-a-half years at the Vodafone Arena.
On Monday’s evidence, the Everton misfit could make it a hat-trick before the season is out.
