Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has made the case for starting Eddie Nketiah up front for the rest of the season.
The young striker was on fire against Chelsea in midweek, and Wright believes that the England U21 international needs to play every game between now and the end of the campaign.
Wright doesn’t want Nketiah starting because of his quality or ability, but simply because he believes that his luck is in at the moment – as highlighted by his second goal against the Blues.
What’s been said?
Wright spoke about Nketiah.
“I don’t think Lacazette scores that first goal, I don’t think he does, that’s why Eddie needed to come in and start doing that. That second goal, that’s why I’d play him for the rest of the season, because that shows me that his luck is in, that one ricocheted three times,” Wright said.

Luck is in
These days, football is often overanalysed to a microscopic degree, but sometimes, your luck is just in.
Of course, you make your own luck as a striker by gambling on certain passes, taking chances and being hungry, but if Nketiah is doing all of those things, he has to be starting.
Yes, he’s not the most complete forward in the Premier League, but at this point of the season, goals are the only thing that matter.
Wright would start Nketiah from here on in, and we’re inclined to agree with that point of view.
