Speaking on the Highbury Squad YouTube channel, Kevin Campbell has been discussing Thomas Partey and his potential at Arsenal.

The Ghanaian arrived last summer with very high expectations. He was seen as the man who would potentially revolutionise the Gunners’ midfield in the Mikel Arteta era and lead the team back to their old glories.

Unfortunately, things haven’t quite worked out like that so far.

Partey has been incredibly hit and miss for Arsenal. Some weeks he looks excellent, others he looks lost on the pitch.

However, despite his inconsistency, Campbell believes that Partey still has immense talent and that the sky is the limit for him when he’s on his game.

What’s been said about Partey?

Campbell gave his view on Partey.

“I just think, we’ve seen his ability. When you’ve seen someone with that ability and you don’t get to see it all of the time. His ceiling is massive, and when he’s not taking over games, remember, we’ve had some of the best in there, we’ve had Vieira in there. That’s what we want from him, but unfortunately at the moment, he’s not that player. Whether that’s through injury or lost form, so what I want from him and Xhaka is to lock down that midfield and for us to win,” Campbell said.

Needs to find himself

Partey has been in England for almost 18 months now, but it still feels as though he hasn’t truly settled in the Premier League.

As Campbell says, it could be down to injury or perhaps it’s a confidence issue, but one thing is for sure, Partey needs to find his best form soon.

Campbell is spot on when he says that Partey has a high ceiling. After all, you don’t star at Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid unless you’re a special player, but for one reason or another, things just haven’t fully clicked for him in England.

Fingers crossed Partey can get back to playing his best stuff in the coming weeks.
