Manchester City recorded a historic win on Wednesday evening, beating PSG 2-1 in the Champions League semi-final first leg to put one foot in their first-ever Champions League final.
The Cityzens were in fine fettle as they overcame the French giants, and while there were a number of standout performers on the night, one man who got a lot of praise was Riyad Mahrez.
The Algerian scored what would prove to be the winner from a free-kick, but it wasn’t just his goal that made his performance standout.
The winger worked so hard down the right side, chasing every ball and tracking back, and when he was in possession he was a constant thorn in PSG’s side.
If Manchester City are to win the Champions League this season they will have Mahrez to thank for their progression, he’s now scored critical goals against both PSG and Borussia Dortmund, and we wouldn’t be too shocked if he popped up with another vital strike in the final.
