Jamie Carragher has suggested on Sky Sports that Liverpool striker Divock Origi would be a perfect signing for Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur.

The Sky Sports pundit has said that Liverpool striker Origi’s ability to make an impact off the substitutes’ bench would suit Tottenham.

Harry Kane is the main striker at Spurs.

Tottenham do not have a recognised back-up for the England international at the moment.

Origi came off the bench to score the winner for Liverpool against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League at the weekend.

And former Liverpool defender Carragher has raved about him.

Divock Origi to Tottenham Hotspur suggestion

Carragher said on Sky Sports: “When you think of Harry Kane or you think of teams who have got a really good striker, Everton – Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and you think, ‘Who can I buy who knows he will be a sub and can still make an impact?'”

The Sky Sports pundit added: “He will never play for the Liverpool front-three for a prolonged period of time. He is not good enough. But his ability from the bench…

“Whether there are people around Europe or you are looking to replace a Harry Kane or someone to come off the bench, whether that should be something that they should be looking at.”

Could a transfer happen?

You know what?

Carragher’s suggestion about Origi and Tottenham is not actually a bad one.

In our opinion, Origi would be a good signing for Spurs as a back-up to Kane.

Now, of course, we do not think that Spurs will be able to sign the £60,000-a-week striker (Spotrac) in the January transfer window.

Liverpool are unlikely to sell the 26-year-old in the middle of the season.

However, if Spurs chairman Daniel Levy does not sign a really top-quality striker to play alongside Kane in the summer of 2022, then he should at least look into the possibility of bringing in Origi.
