West Ham reportedly want Maurizio Sarri to replace Slaven Bilic but why would the Italian leave Napoli?
Coach of SSC Napoli Maurizio Sarri gestures during the Serie A match against Atalanta BC.
West Ham United are said to be lining up Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri as Slaven Bilic’s replacement, according to the Express, with the Croatian’s time at the club believed to be running out.
The Hammers have lost all three of their Premier League matches so far this season and sit bottom of the table as they prepare to host Huddersfield Town in their first home game of 2017/18 tonight (September 11).
Slaven Bilic, manager of West Ham United.
Bilic’s relationship with club chairman David Sullivan has become strained in recent times and the East Londoners are believed to be taking a keen interest in Sarri.
No wonder really after the impressive job the Italian has achieved at the Stadio San Paolo since taking charge two years ago, finishing second and third with the Naples team since.

They also have a 100 percent record after three league outings this term as well and it is widely believed that they have a realistic chance of usurping Juventus this campaign and winning their first Scudetto since 1990.
Not only that but they venture into the Champions League once again with genuine ambitions of making the knockout stages and perhaps making a real mark on the competition.
With the greatest respect to West Ham they cannot offer Sarri anywhere near the same opportunities for success currently. Plus the 58-year-old has been widely praised for his attacking style and could well find job offers coming from some of Europe’s real elite in the not too distant future if he continues to impress.
Landing Sarri would be a real coup, but if Bilic is sacked then the club may have to manage their expectations about who they could bring in to replace him.
