West Ham United fans have hit back at Nuno after he claimed that Tottenham Hotspur were the ‘better team’ in an interview with Sky Sports after yesterday’s game.
The stronger side?
West Ham ran out 1-0 winners over Tottenham at the London Stadium, yet Nuno was determined to look at the positives.
He insisted that Spurs deserved more than what they got on Sunday, despite not having a shot on target in the second half.
He said: “We were the better team, honestly.
“I think we controlled the game, we had chances. We had possession. West Ham are a good team but they only created chances on counter-attacks and set-pieces. We played better, but this is football.”
However, West Ham certainly didn’t agree with the Spurs man’s comments.
And the reaction on social media shows that they did not agree with the Tottenham boss.
All the ball, no real chances
Tottenham did have more of the ball in the second period, but it is difficult to equate that with them being the better side.
Spurs never really troubled the West Ham backline, with David Moyes’ side able to keep them at arms length.
Tottenham also were largely untroubled in the second period, but they switched off for a moment and Michail Antonio punished them.
Tottenham have now lost four London derbies already this term, which has increased the pressure building on Nuno.
