The Tottenham Hotspur star has been linked with a move to Barcelona in recent weeks.
Frank De Boer
Former Inter Milan and Ajax manager Frank de Boer sat down for an exclusive interview with Dutch media outlet Ziggo Sports, and urged Spurs star Christian Eriksen to move to Barcelona this summer, and make a step up in his career.
The Mirror claimed earlier this week that the La Liga giants are keen on bringing the Danish star to the Nou Camp this summer, and are willing to spend heavily in order to get their man.
The 25-year-old has been in sensational form for Tottenham this season, scoring seven goals and chipping in with 12 assists in 31 Premier League outings.
His superb displays have been a major contributing factor behind his side’s rise to second in the table, and he must now be considered as one of the best players in the Premier League.
However, De Boer, who coached Eriksen for three years during their time together at Ajax, explained how he believes the Dane is ready to step up to the next level, when speaking to Ziggo Sports:
“I think he’s has a great career in the making. First Ajax, then to Tottenham at the highest level. I think he is ready for a step higher. Tottenham is a great club, but he has everything that a Barcelona player needs. Christian has an overview, work ethic. Left, right, assists, he can score. He is quite complete.”

If Spurs are to continue their progression next term, however, it will be vitally important for Mauricio Pochettino to keep hold of all of his best players, including Eriksen.
Selling the 25-year-old, irrespective of how much money they would potentially receive, would send out a message that Tottenham lack ambition, and could lead to further exits from the cub.
Usually though, when Barcelona want someone, they get their man. Tottenham fans will be hoping that Daniel Levy stands firm on this one though.
