Sevilla president Jose Castro believes reported Arsenal and Barcelona target Bryan Gil will be staying at the La Liga giants, telling Radio Marca, via Estadio Deportivo, the winger has a “high release clause” in his contract.

If reports are to be believed, that clause could get higher still in the near future.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Sevilla are looking to ward off interest from Arsenal and Barcelona by tying one of Spain’s most exciting youngsters to a new, long-term deal – one that would raise his release clause from £30 million to £130 million.

And while Sevilla are famed for selling their most promising talent for substantial sums – see Ivan Rakitic, Sergio Ramos, Dani Alves and more – there’s little to suggest Gil will be in the next cab off the rank.

“It is good that (rival clubs) speak well of (Gil) but he will be an important player for Sevilla FC,” Castro explains.

“He has a contract with Sevilla, a high release clause – although I don’t want to talk about his clause because I want him to succeed with us.

“I’m not thinking about (selling Gil), but about him coming back and doing a great job with us.”

The stylish winger has been a revelation on loan at Eibar this term, emerging as the creative kingpin of a team hovering nervously above the relegation trapdoor.

German Vaya Ballabriga, an experienced scout who discovered a young Andres Iniesta, recently revealed Barcelona have been watching Gil closely, describing him as “Spain’s best footballer” while drawing a comparison between the Sevilla starlet and former Camp Nou sensation Neymar.
