Jota Peleteiro is making a big impact after leaving Aston Villa for Alaves, with teammate Joselu hailing the playmaker’s creative ability, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

If you are a gifted footballer fed up of life on the Premier League bench, then why not head on down to the Mendizorrotza?

It has worked for Lucas Perez and Florian Lejeune after all.

While Joselu looked incapable of hitting a barndoor with the proverbial banjo at Newcastle United, the striker has found the net 12 times since returning to La Liga last summer.

Now, with Jota providing ammunition from out wide, Joselu will be hopeful of beating last season’s tally of 11 in the blue and white of Alaves.

“We have added Jota Peleteiro. He is already giving us a lot on an offensive level. I know him from my youth career at Celta Vigo and he is a high quality footballer,” Joselu says of a man he has been reunited with after over a decade apart.

Aston Villa paid £4 million to sign Jota from rivals Birmingham City in 2019 but, after just four Premier League starts under Dean Smith, the former Brentford star’s contract was terminated at the start of October.

The skilful attacker already looks a man reborn back in his homeland though.

Jota was the star of the show as Alaves picked up just their second win of the season last weekend, producing an assist in the 2-0 triumph at Real Valladolid.
