Higginbotham suggests key factor in Leeds United’s promotion chances

Leeds United are at the top of the Championship table at the moment.

Former Manchester United and Derby County defender Danny Higginbotham said on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News on Friday morning (broadcast from 11am, September 15, 2017) that the key to Leeds United getting promoted is keeping key players fit.

Leeds have made a strong start to the 2017-18 Championship campaign and are at the top of the league table at the moment.

The West Yorkshire outfit have picked up 17 points from seven games so far this season, a point more than second-placed Cardiff City.

Thomas Christiansen’s side have been arguably the best team to watch in the Championship so far this season and have played some wonderful football.

Leeds have been superb defensively, conceding just twice in seven league fixtures, and have scored as many 14 goals.

It has been a truly brilliant start from Leeds, and the fans will be confident of at least a top-six finish in the Championship this season.

Given the squad that the Whites have, some Elland Road faithful will perhaps expect the team to fight for one of the two automatic places.

Former Stoke City and Sunderland defender Higginbotham believes that for Leeds to get promoted from the Championship to the Premier League at the end of the season, they need to keep their best players fit.

“The key to them sustaining a promotion push, because it is very early on in the season, is keeping key players fit,” said Higginbotham on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News on Friday morning (broadcast from 11am, September 15, 2017).
