West Ham suffered a 2-0 defeat to Watford in David Moyes’ first game in charge.

Danny Higginbotham has told The Sun that West Ham United manager David Moyes’ top priority must be to sort out his side’s defence after their defeat to Watford on Sunday.
The Hammers seemed powerless to avoid defeat as they suffered a 2-0 loss to Marco Silva’s side, thanks to goals from midfielder Will Hughes and Brazilian starlet Richarlison.
It leaves the east Londoners in the bottom three of the Premier League for another week, with just two wins from their 12 league outings in England’s top flight.

Former Premier League defender Higginbotham claimed Moyes’ first port of call as West Ham manager will be to stop the flow of goals against his side, but urged the former Everton manager not to forget about 28-year-old striker Andy Carroll.
“David Moyes will now realise what a massive job he has after yesterday’s loss to Watford.” Higginbotham said. “And West Ham’s biggest problem is the amount of goals they are shipping.
“But the new manager has to be so careful that, in sorting out the defence, he doesn’t forget the attack and leave Andy Carroll isolated. The striker is excellent at holding up the ball and bringing his team-mates into play. But he can’t hold it up forever.”

The Hammers’ lack of confidence showed as they failed to convert a number of chances throughout the match, with Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes producing a number of marvellous saves to deny the likes of Cheikhou Kouyate and Marko Arnautovic.
West Ham must now dust themselves down and prepare for their next outing, as they go up against Leicester City on Friday night at the London Stadium.
