Hibs manager Jack Ross thinks his side “took back control” of Josh Doig’s future amid reported interest from the likes of Arsenal, Leeds United, Burnley and Watford – and thinks the teenage defender looks “much more like himself” now the speculation has died down.

Doig appeared to be on the brink of an Easter Road exit, leading to Ross leaving out of his side in anticipation of a transfer being completed but the Hibs boss rather bluntly confessed his phone has now gone quiet.
“The people who were phoning me a lot are not doing so now, so read between the lines on that,” Ross told Not The Old Firm.
“Those people might start phoning me again but for the moment I think we took back control of the situation and it’s been good for Josh and ourselves.
“I don’t know what might happen over the next few days but at the moment it’s been good for him because he’s looked much more like himself with having that bit of clarity over the past couple of weeks.”

With only days left in the transfer window, there could well be a late move away from Leith for the Scotland under-21 star – but it won’t come cheap.
Doig has since returned to the Hibs side after missing some of the early games and he’ll be hoping he can help the Hibees build on their impressive start to the Premiership season.
