Hibernian beat Mark Warburton’s Rangers in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday.
Hibernian boss Alan Stubbs has told BBC Sport that the Scottish Cup final win over Rangers was the silver lining for his side.
Hibernian ended a 114-year wait for Scottish Cup success on Saturday afternoon as they came back from 2-1 down to secure a 3-2 win.
As already mentioned, it was their first success in over a century, having last won the competition with a win over Celtic in 1902.
It offered a bright spark at the end of a highly disappointing season for them too, as they missed out on potential promotion to the Scottish Premiership.
And Stubbs says the win was he silver lining for them after their heartache against Falkirk earlier this month.
“They say every cloud has a silver lining, and today we have got that silver lining,” he told BBC Sport.
“They are history makers. You work with them every day and they had a lot of bad luck against them, so to see them achieve it is fantastic.”
Stubbs will now be hoping that the scenes that followed the win do not mar his side’s success.
Large numbers of their fans ran onto the pitch following the final whistle, with some even seen to be clashing with Rangers fans in ugly scenes.
Indeed, Mark Warburton’s team did not reappear to claim their runners up medals as a result, and punishment will surely be coming their way from the Scottish FA.
