Yannick Bolasie has taken to Twitter to show screenshots of a WhatsApp conversation between himself and Seamus Coleman from October.

The 43-cap DR Congo international unveiled the emotional messages after sealing a loan move to Middlesbrough until the end of the season.

Bolasie was left out of Everton’s Premier League squad by Carlo Ancelotti before the start of the current campaign.

The former Crystal Palace man wasn’t even allowed to train with his teammates after returning from a loan spell at Sporting Lisbon, due to COVID-19 guidelines.

Coleman references his exclusion from Finch Farm in the WhatsApp messages, which you can see below.

The Republic of Ireland international didn’t have to send Bolasie those messages, but the fact he did just goes to show the type of character he is.

Coleman clearly cares about his teammates and their wellbeing, whether they’re a key player or a fringe option under Ancelotti.

The right-back’s messages are those of a true captain, who looks out for his teammates when they’re going through a difficult time.

Bolasie has endured a turbulent time on Merseyside since suffering a serious knee injury midway through his debut season at Goodison Park.

In that respect, the 31-year-old can hopefully kick on at Middlesbrough under a manager he knows well in Neil Warnock.
