It’s been something on an underwhelming season for Tottenham Hotspur, but one man has been a real beacon of hope in north London.
Indeed, Harry Kane has enjoyed what has arguably been his best season so far at Spurs, and we can only imagine that he’s a shoo-in for the club’s annual Player of the Year award.
It may come as something of a surprise that Kane has only won the Player of the Year at Spurs one time, but it’s hard to imagine that anyone but the England captain will be scooping that prize this year.
Heung-min Son won the award in both 2019 and 2020, and while he is probably Kane’s closest challenger this year, it’d be hard to justify voting him in ahead of Spurs’ talisman.
To put it bluntly, Kane has been a joke this season, he tops both the Premier League’s goals and assists charts, and if he keeps this sort of form up, he’ll be on for both the Golden Boot and the Playmaker award.
Perhaps Paul Dickov found the best word to describe Kane’s performances this season, he called him ‘sensational’ and we have to agree with that analysis.
Spurs haven’t had much to shout about this season, but Kane’s brilliance has managed to keep them on the periphery of the top four race and take them to a cup final.
Understandably, there is a lot of speculation about Kane’s future at the moment, and whether he stays or he goes remains to be seen.
Regardless of what the future holds for the Spurs star, we can’t take away what he’s achieved on the pitch this season, and he’s surely winning the club’s Player of the Year award.
Heung-min Son would love to win a hat-trick of Player of the Year awards, but it’s time for his crown to be handed to Harry Kane.
