Heung-Min Son will be one of the players Tottenham hope can make a difference in the Champions League final against Liverpool.

Son has told The Evening Standard that he is excited for the fixture, but the prospect of losing is a scary one.

He admits that defeat would hit the team hard.

Son said: “Winning the Champions League means a lot, but losing would be painful for a long, long time.

“We just want to be ready and then we will see what happens. Liverpool are a strong team, so how we play will be important.”

This is Tottenham’s first Champions League final, while Liverpool lost last year to Real Madrid.

The rarity of Spurs reaching the final raises the stakes for Tottenham’s player to deliver.

The Reds already know how painful the feeling of defeat is, and that will drive them forward.

Losing to a Premier League rival would make it even more painful for both teams and supporters.
