Heung-Min Son shared that he was ‘really sad’ for his Tottenham striker Harry Kane because of how he was treated at the start of the season, as he told Sky Sports.
The Spurs winger made the comments after his side recorded a memorable 3-2 win against Manchester City.
The England striker netted a brace for his team at the Etihad, including scoring a stoppage-time winner that sent Tottenham’s away supporters into party mode.
But it’s a different story to what it was like for Kane at the start of the campaign, where he struggled for form and goals after the talk around Man City wanting to sign him.
Given that situation, Son shared that he was ‘sad’ for his teammate because he was still ‘working for the team’ during his difficult period, despite the difference in perception.
“I was really sad at the start of the season when he didn’t score the goals,” said Son. “People were talking. I was quite sad because he was working for the team and playing for the team.
“You could see today that he was working hard and he was there with the defenders.
“He is just an unbelievable player and an unbelievable guy as well. Working with him is just an honour.”

Whatever happened with Kane during the first half of the season, his engine is working a lot better during the second half.
A lot of that is down to Antonio Conte’s arrival because he has pushed up his performances up a notch.
There is no doubt that Kane is a world-class footballer and you wouldn’t bet against him being one of the standout performances in the Premier League during these crunch months of the campaign.
And if that happens, then Tottenham’s chances of securing Champions League football will only increase.
