Hesitate and you’re dead – Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris jokes teammate made sure he wasn’t sleeping

The Tottenham Hotspur ace has been as reliable as ever this season.

Spurs ace Hugo Lloris produced a match-winning save against Bournemouth on Saturday, and the jovial Frenchman discussed his heroics during a post-match interview, as quoted by the club’s official website.

Tottenham’s victory maintained their fine form, and kept the pressure up on the two Manchester clubs above them in the Premier League table.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men earned their first league win at Wembley, and currently sit in third position in the table, five points adrift of Pep Guardiola’s impressive Manchester City side.

And the Argentine has the French international stopper to thank for Saturday’s 1-0 win, after he pulled off a miraculous stop against the Cherries, after Eric Dier had diverted the ball towards his own goal.

The 30-year-old joked with reporters that his Spurs colleague was merely making sure that he was not asleep, as quoted by TottenhamHotspur.com:

“Everything went so quickly. I just saw it’s from Eric Dier – I think he wanted to make sure I wasn’t sleeping! That’s football. It’s about the reaction and then we’re lucky because there were no opponents around me. You have two options – foot or hand – but if you hesitate between both, you are dead! It’s the goalkeeper’s job and I’m just happy to save it.”

One thing is for certain, if Tottenham are to mount a sustained push for major honours on all fronts this season, Lloris will have to be at his absolute best on a consistent basis.

Next up for Spurs is a trip to Spain to take on Real Madrid in the Champions League in what is the glamour tie of Group H, and the French stopper will be expecting his busiest game of the season so far.
