Leeds United fans on Twitter hit back at Gary Neville after he claimed that Kalvin Phillips has ‘learnt more’ during these last ‘4-6 weeks’ than he has done during these last ‘4-6 years’.
Phillips started for England on Wednesday night as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Denmark in the UEFA Nations League.
When the first-half was drawing to a close, Neville told Sky Sports Football (14/10/20 at 40th-minute mark) that Phillips is learning more now than he has done throughout his career.
“I was thinking before about Kalvin Phillips, what a learning curve for him in the last month,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“Playing for England at Denmark. Playing here tonight, down to 10 men and playing that game against Manchester City a week last Saturday, which was just breathtaking against De Bruyne and others.
“He has learnt more in the last 4-6 weeks than he has probably in the last 4-6 years.”

Leeds fans were quick to fire back at the former Manchester United defender and made it clear to him that Phillips has been working with a certain Marcelo Bielsa.
During these last two seasons, Phillips has transformed from an inconsistent, shaky and forward-thinking midfielder to one who now dominates in his defensive third, added discipline to his game, controls matches and pings passes like it’s Pirlo gracing the Elland Road pitch.
Given that Leeds have played the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City early on in the season, and someone like Phillips has now been a part of two England camps, it’s understandable that he would have learnt a lot during these early weeks of the season.

But when you have a certain Bielsa coaching you every day then you might as well throw away the footballing dictionary or textbook because he will teach you everything.
Therefore, it’s understandable why the Leeds fans were annoyed by Neville’s comments, as they gave this reaction:
