Speaking to SportsLens, Ray Parlour has urged Arsenal to go out and sign Ivan Toney after it was reported that Gabriel Jesus is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Jesus picked up a knee injury on World Cup duty, and sadly, that injury has required surgery that could keep the striker out for as long as three months.
With Arsenal currently mounting a title challenge, the Gunners need reinforcements.
So, who should they go for?
Well, Parlour has suggested Ivan Toney as a possible alternative, stating that the Brentford striker reminds him if his former teammate Ian Wright.
However, Parlour did add the caveat that such a move is unlikely in January as he’s very important to Brentford.

Parlour wants Arsenal to sign Toney
The pundit told his former team to go after the former Newcastle striker.
“The problem you’re going to have in January is who’s available? I’ve always said Ivan Toney of Brentford. I’d go and try to get him if I could. I don’t think you’ll get him in this window but he’s who I’d go for. I think he’s similar to Ian Wright the way he plays and scores his goals. I know Marcus Thuram at Borussia Mönchengladbach could be available because his contract is up at the end of the year,” Parlour said.
Expensive
Toney would be a fantastic signing for Arsenal, but this would cost the Gunners a pretty penny to say the least.
Indeed, it’s not that Toney is in fact the most valuable striker out there right now, but in terms of how valuable he is to Brentford, he’s priceless.
Guaranteed goals for a team like the Bees is so valuable, and it would take a mammoth bid to convince Thomas Frank’s side to sell their star man.
Arsenal may want to look for a cheaper alternative here.
