Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after it was reiterated that Joe Rodon would be ineligible to face Stoke in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

Why? Well, the £11 million man – signed from Swansea over the summer – has already appeared in the competition for the Swans this season.

This means that the Wales international will be cup-tied for the quarter-final clash with the Potters, in what is extremely disappointing news.

Tottenham supporters have only seen glimpses of the centre-back since his arrival in north London.

Rodon has started just one Premier League game this season, while also coming off the bench on three occasions.

The 23-year-old can only appear in the Premier League for Spurs until the FA Cup starts, as he also wasn’t signed in time to feature under Jose Mourinho in the Europa League.

He can, however, appear in the knockout phases in Europe.

In that respect, his chances have been extremely limited, so being ineligible for the clash against Michael O’Neill’s side will presumably be heartbreaking for the defender.

With Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier being Mourinho’s main men, and Davinson Sanchez also in the squad on standby, Rodon’s lack of game time is a worry.

It’s worth mentioning that Tottenham might’ve been wise to loan the Welshman back to Swansea, so that he could continue his development by playing football week in, week out.

As one fan below states, the defender is currently wasting away in north London, even though his future at the club appears to be bright.

Let’s see how the Tottenham supporters reacted to the news on Twitter…
